Douglas J. Van Daele, MD
 

Douglas J Van Daele, MD, FACS serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Roy J and Lucille A Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa. Doug came to the University of Iowa as an undergraduate in biomedical engineering then matriculated to medical school and subsequently residency in the same institution then became a faculty member in 2003.

 

Prior to joining the faculty, he spent two years as an NIH-funded resident research fellow studying various aspects of laryngeal physiology. His clinical interests include speech, voice, and swallowing disorders and in particular how head and neck cancer treatments affect voice and swallowing. Doug has published over 50 journal articles and book chapters, received numerous NIH grants, and serves on the editorial board of several journals.
