Concurrent Sessions during Post-Graduate Course:
- Adult - Evaluation and Treatment of Dysphagia in the ICU
- Pediatric - Evaluation and Treatment of Dysphagia in the ICU
- How to Develop a Focused and Sustainable Research Program
- This session is part of the DRS New Investigator Initiative and is directed toward advancing the research careers of dysphagia scientists with emphasis on new and early stage investigators. This year’s content will focus on providing participants with tools to help them develop a focused and sustainable research program. Our session speakers are highly accomplished researchers, grant reviewers, and academics who will share their personal experiences in developing a focused program of research with emphasis on the ‘individual development plan’. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one mentorship or small group mentorship where they will learn from the experiences of successful early, mid-career and senior scientists. Participants interested in one-on-one mentorship will be required to submit an ‘individual development plan’ prior to the session. Ten to 12 participants will be selected for individual mentorship based on several criteria including readiness and mentor match. This session provides preferential admission to DRS members.
Meet the Mentors Breakfast: The purpose of this breakfast is to provide an opportunity for new investigators to network and learn how to build or enhance his/her research career from senior researchers. This session provides preferential admission to DRS members. This session provides preferential admission to DRS members and has limited seats available.
DRS Lip Sync Battle Fund-Raiser: The Website Communications and Public Relations Committee (WCPRC) will be hosting the DRS Lip Sync Battle v. 2.0 and Game Night Fund-Raiser! This will be an exciting, fun-filled social event where DRS attendees will lip sync to their favorite songs and have the opportunity to participate in a game-show component. Individuals or groups who register may compete to win an exciting award! If you are too shy perform, please plan to attend and cheer on your colleagues. (Registration and attendance minimum $25 donation). The event will immediately follow the Welcome Reception and will feature a cash bar. Beer Bus Tour: Expose yourself to Better Beer! Visit 3 breweries and sample 15-20 fresh beers. Expect a fun and educational tour of Portland, as well as a history of craft brewing. Learn of local world records and “Oregon firsts”, and find out why Portland is the home of craft brewing. Open to the first 50 registrants.
