Annual Dues: $220.00 USD*
Persons who are actively pursuing or have pursued research pertaining to normal or abnormal swallowing (research shall be defined to include clinical or basic science). Full members shall be required to have published in the area of swallowing (abnormal or normal) as the first or senior author on one (1) manuscript in a peer-reviewed journal, or as a co-author on three (3) manuscripts in a peer-reviewed journal.

Persons who have an interest in deglutition research but do not have first authorship or who have not published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Student/Trainee Member (e.g., Full-time Students, Residents and Fellows)
Annual Dues: $50.00 USD*
Persons enrolled in an accredited training program working toward a recognized qualification or those involved in swallowing research who do not yet qualify for Associate or Full membership. Training member applicants are required to provide a letter confirming full-time student/trainee status from their department chair or supervisor.

Upon written request to and approval of the Membership Committee Chair, and with the approval of the Board of Directors, a member who retires and is no longer actively engaged in the practice of dysphagia research may be elected to Emeritus status. Requirements for Emeritus status include: Full membership level for a minimum of 10 years 2) substantive contribution toward dysphagia research through an active publication history, and/or 3) significant contribution to the Society through active committee involvement.
Members elected to Emeritus status shall not be required to pay annual dues and shall be entitled to all membership privileges, except that they shall not have the right to vote nor be eligible to hold office.
*An online subscription to Dysphagia, the official journal of the Society, is included in the annual dues fee.
